Ok… so this is kind of old but I still think its cool.
Want to build a multitouch pad for $5-$50? Hummmm…. can it be done? YES!!! Below is a video on how to do it, followed by a link to the guys site where you can find the software to run it. All-in-all its really cool.
Don’t have a Multitouch Table yet? Have one, but need something smaller for testing? Building a small portable multitouch pad will allow you to test software and experiment on a smaller scale while building your full table or when away from your multitouch screen. Have fun and make a MTmini! This uses Front Diffused Illumination, with normal ambient light (infrared not required or needed) and a normal off-the-shelf webcam (IR filter can still be in place).
Light Emitting Textiles are exactly what they sound like. Philips has developed a fabric that can produce light and focus it to produce images on, say, a shirt. This new technology is called Lumalive… not sure if I love the name… anyway… its not the craziest thing I’ve ever seen but I find it amusing… some might say amazing.
Bill Gates embarrassed on Conan O’brien when Windows Media Center demonstration fails to work. It’s actually worth a laugh. hehe.
Interesting. I’m not sure if Google’s Android Platform is the best but it will probably take the work by storm, as most google products tend to do. The Android Platform will start showing up on phones soon. Long story short, the Android Platform is something I want to get my hands on and can’t wait to use it.
Beginning in 2009, Virgin Galactic will start taking tourists to space. This will be the first “affordable” option for commercial space travel (the much more expensive option being the Russian space program). The tickets will start at $200,000 per flight, and I have to say, out of my range but very affordable. What do you get for $200,000? The experience will last 2 1/2 hour with views for a 1,000 miles in any direction at a height of 360,000 feet above earth. The exciting part — for all the people who can’t spend 200k on a quick space flight– is the future. The age of commercial space tourism is here but the rest of us are going to have to wait… but (hopefully) not too long, which is very exciting… at least to me.
The following is a short animation of the experience:
